From the time I was about 12, I began seriously writing. It started as short stories and quickly escalated to longer works. I dreamed of becoming a novelist in order to share my creativity and imagination with the world. As time went by and life changed, I found myself enjoying non-fiction writing even more. I started a newsletter in high school for my church's youth group and also wrote for a friend's online magazine. That was when I began to realize I could influence and inspire people with my experiences, my stories. After going to Haiti on several occasions, I had an immense amount of tales to tell. Additionally, after being diagnosed with anxiety and depression last year, I started a blog in order to share with friends and family about the illness. My love for writing, I learned, was the perfect avenue for advocacy. It is because of this that I want to continue writing about my personal experiences and struggles so that others can grow and learn in order to better help themselves and those around them.
